‘The Schnoz’ is an award-winning short film directed by our founder Justine Priestley and starring Dame Maureen Lipman, Sophie Shad and Helen Lederer. It was produced in collaboration with our friends Undivided Pictures. Written by Sophie Shad, it was the winner of the Pears Short Film Fund in 2020 and has won accolades at film festivals around the world.
When Lydia’s grandma gives her a cheque for a nose job on her 21st birthday, it feels like a dream come true. That is, until she finds herself face to face with the ghost of her ancestor, whose nose she has inherited.
Lydia’s journey is a moving reflection on self acceptance and the value of true beauty.
‘The Schnoz’ was shot over three days during the COVID-19 lockdown in the UK and under strict APA guidelines.
This was a new challenge for our team and with the assistance of the wider crew we we able to produce a wonderfully charming film.
The project was led by all-female Head of Departments and a fun fact is that the director, producer and production designer were all pregnant during the production!
